Deputy Superintendent Terry Pullen, who was substituting for Superintendent Patti Banks, reported that Linda Bird
and Patti Banks did excellent jobs at the property transfer hearing. He thanked district administrators for their
support at the hearing.

Board Response to Monitoring
Rick Maloney reminded Board members that he launched the monitoring response surveys on EL-9 Facilities
Program and EL-10 Asset Protection.

At 7:00 pm the linkage portion of the meeting began. Rick Maloney briefly described Policy Governance and the
reasons for having community linkage meetings. Susie Jensen, Director of Assessment and Technology, reviewed
four items needed for students to graduate from Curtis High School:1) a High School and Beyond Plan; 2) having
met Credit Requirements; 3) a Certificate of Academic/Individual Achievement; and 4) a Culminating Project.

She spoke specifically about the Certificate of Academic/Individual Achievement. To earn this certificate students,
beginning with the class of 2008, must meet the state learning standards in reading, writing and math (scoring at
level 3 or 4). Students have 5 opportunities to meet the standard by taking the Washington Assessment of Student
Learning test. She discussed other means students have of earning the certificate if they have not met the standard
after two tries, and have met attendance and remediation requirements. These included a Collection of Evidence
(demonstrating a depth and breadth of WASL skills and knowledge in the content area, WASL/Grades Comparison,
