Higher standards for writing skills

( in writing

( in math

( in reading

( in science

Our kids have too many errors in the school work, but teachers have no time correcting and editing.

Higher standards for math

Simplify the presentation of benchmarks that accompany the report cards. For example: 3rd graders

know multiplication tables up to 12 x 12.

Please communicate 1) How in-district standards/benchmarks are set, and 2) How these compare to

other school districts/ published data/ etc. (especially for the "other" academics)

Encourage direct student competition at national/international events.

Grades can not be used, because they can be too easily inflated.

Additional assessments (portfolios, curriculum based, report cards, teacher observations, notes) as well

as testing.

Progress Reports

Communication with teacher

Can we explore any standards/tests that may currently be available across the nation for geography,

history, civics, etc?

Use ACT scores for history and science

Standardize assessment tests across our district for specific courses.

Communication needed among teachers teaching similar coursework.

EALR's are learning and instructional standards tested by WASL

Cheating

Grading (transition to meeting standards) vs. completion recognition

Teacher input t parents - especially when student having difficulty

Support for students who are in need

Portfolio - culminating project - monitor progress - conference: parent with student presenting portfolio

Six-period day may increase teacher/student contact and parent feedback

Students have a good experience in university

More "mainstream" mentality vs. adv. curses
