Assessment Overview


The Assessment Office is responsible for planning and directing student assessment, providing systems to evaluate instructional and curricular effectiveness, and facilitating the use of data to improve academic achievement. 


As part of the Department of Teaching and Learning, the Assessment Office is specifically responsible for:

·        Coordinating state and District assessments

·        Developing and improving assessments to monitor student achievement

·        Training staff on the use of assessments and assessment data

·        Preparing reports and statistical summaries for use in decision making

·        Establishing and evaluating criteria for student participation in supplemental programs - Challenge, Learning Assistance Programs, and Title I Reading Intervention

·        Establishing and maintaining a student assessment database

·        Reporting student progress on District and state assessments to a variety of audiences
