I graduated from California State University at Long Beach in
l973. I did my student teaching in a pilot program in Long Beach which implemented
the direct instruction theories of Madeline Hunter. In l995 I received my
Masters of Education from City University with a focus of study on the constructivist
theory of instruction, bringing me full circle. I see clearly the benefit
of varied approaches in education. I began my career teaching in a multi-age
K-2 program in Calif. Later I moved to WA where I taught kindergarten, second
grade and worked for a year in staff development. Next I taught third grade
in Anchorage, AK. On returning to WA I taught second grade and K-4 gifted
education in University Place. I am currently teaching third grade.
