Illustrating

  • Some of the assingments that I have the students complete on the computer require illustrations. I try to have the students illustrate on the computers half of the time and the other half using crayons, colored pencils, etc. With funds from a technology grant I was able to purchase drawing tablets and pens. These are a fabulous tools for the small hands of primary students, and drawing with these tools is much easier than using even a cordless mouse.

Line/Shapes - Hot/Cool Colors

  • For this assignment the students practice these art elements on the computer to complete a Hot shaker and a Cool fan. In the blank rectangle, the students use the computer drawing tools to add lines and shapes. Then they fill in the spaces with cool or hot colors and print. For the fan, the students cut the rectangle out and use the fan fold. For the shaker, the students cut the rectangle out and glue it around a soda can that has a few pebbles in it and a paper lid. Play some "hot" music and have the students shake to the beat.
